PURPOSE:
The system is designed to warn operational personnel of strategic objects, military units, recreation camps and individuals about a high probability of lightning at their place of stay.
DESCRIPTION:
A thunderstorm warning is carried out in 10-15 minutes. to a lightning strike in a specific place with a probability of more than 90%. The thunderstorm warning system is based on the concept of monitoring the electric field strength of the atmosphere using sensors operating on the effect of corona current from metal rods. The computer model for calculating the distribution of the probability of lightning striking the elements of the object is protected by a copyright certificate for the work. The system is in line with the current global trend. This is confirmed by the new specialized standard IEC 62793: 2016 Protection against lightning-Thunderstorm warning systems. An especially wide application can be obtained by an autonomous electric field strength sensor for equipment of small vessels (boats, yachts, etc.).
ADVANTAGES:
Compared with the existing in the world samples of indicators of the electric field strength of the atmosphere, the advantage of the developed system is that the efficiency of the sensor does not depend on the presence of wind, rain and fluctuations in atmospheric pressure. The sensor contains no moving parts or those that mimic the movement of electrodes. As a result, the level of energy consumption is an order of magnitude lower than that of analogues. Therefore, the operating time in autonomous mode (on the battery) exceeds the duration of the thunderstorm period. The cost of the sensor and warning system is several times lower than that of analogues.
RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:
Strategic objects, military units, camps, small vessels (boats, yachts).
