PURPOSE:
The Ukrainian Institute has developed bioactive ceramic composite materials for filling bone defects and complete restoration of bone tissue in trauma, disease, and wounds. These materials significantly improve the biocompatibility of implants and guarantee biochemical fusion of their surface with bone tissue, accelerate recovery and restore the physiological functions of patients.
DESCRIPTION:
The development is intended for the production of synthetic bioactive ceramic materials for filling bone defects and complete restoration of bone tissue – bioactive calcium-phosphate ceramics, bioactive glass, sitalls and composites based on them, which are approved for use in medical practice in Ukraine and are successfully used for complete restoration of bone tissue in places of defects caused by trauma, removal of tumors, diseases. It is proposed to improve the developed laboratory technologies and introduce a complex of materials into clinical practice and bone surgery, which are now being successfully tested on bioactive cement, concrete, sol-gels, bioactive glass and sitalls, inorganic composites and composites with bioactive polymers for minimally invasive surgery, bonding bone fragments, filling complex defects treatment of infected bones and other complicated cases of bone restoration. At the next stage, the completion of the development and introduction into clinical practice of a full range of modified inorganic bioactive materials for the restoration of affected bones and the simultaneous solution of other problems – delivery and local release of drugs to overcome concomitant injuries, wounds and diseases, the creation of a depot of microelements to correct their homeostasis in the body, as well as inorganic bactericidal, biostimulating and immunocorrecting drugs. ADVANTAGES:
According to their properties, all the listed surgical materials are at the level of the best foreign analogues, or surpass them, or have no foreign analogues. The effectiveness of even the first variants of these materials, previously developed and approved for clinical use, has been proven by hundreds of operations in various fields of bone surgery. The cost of all materials is 8-20 times less than foreign analogues. The developed coatings significantly improve the biocompatibility of implants and guarantee the biochemical fusion of their surface with the bone tissue, accelerate recovery and restore the physiological functions of patients. The coatings are applied by gas-dynamic deposition and can be made of any thickness and from any of the listed bioactive inorganic materials and composites, or with an arbitrary combination of these materials with each other, or with bioinert ceramic materials, including when using such components that actively interact with each other during high-temperature methods of coating, and the preservation of the chemical composition and structure of all coating elements, high biocompatibility, and the absence of negative reactions to the coating are guaranteed. The coating can be applied to surfaces of arbitrary curvature, threaded surfaces, their mechanical properties also allow significant deformation of products without breaking the coating.
