The world’s first chickpea variety, with its characteristics standing between the Desi and Kabuli types. High-yielding, the average yield over the years of testing in the Steppe was 2.7 t/ha, in the Forest-Steppe – 3.2 t/ha. The seeds are light brown, large, the weight of 1000 seeds reaches 390 – 410 g. The duration of the growing season is 82 – 85 days. The most tolerant to fusarium and ascochitosis among all modern chickpea varieties listed in the Register of Varieties of Ukraine (8-9 points). Plants of the Yarina variety are tall, 55–65 cm, the height of attachment of the lower bean is 22–25 cm, resistant to lodging and breaking off branches of the 2nd order. Drought tolerance is high.
The seeds accumulate up to 28% protein and up to 11% oil. It has good taste and quickly boils soft.
The high adaptive and nutritional qualities of Yarina chickpeas make it possible to recommend it for cultivation in the southern regions of the country for food use.
