A competition for the V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2024 is announced

The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine announces a competition for the V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In order to reward scientists for outstanding achievements in the field of natural, technical and social sciences, in honor of the first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences – an outstanding scientist, academician Volodymyr Ivanovych Vernadsky, as well as on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of its creation, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine founded the V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal.

Every year, on the birthday of Academician V.I. Vernadsky (March 12), two gold medals are awarded – one to a domestic and one to a foreign scientist.

1. The medal is awarded only to individuals personally, both for individual scientific achievements and for a set of scientific works.

The same person cannot be awarded the medal more than once.

2. The medal is not awarded posthumously, unless the laureate died after the decision to award it was made.

3. The following can participate in the competition for the V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal:

a) full members and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, regardless of their place of permanent work;

b) foreign scientists;

c) individuals working in scientific institutions, institutions of higher education, enterprises and organizations located on the territory of Ukraine.

4. The right to nominate works for the V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal is granted to:

a) full members, corresponding members and foreign members of the NAS of Ukraine;

b) scientific institutions, institutions of higher education and scientific councils of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;

c) scientific and scientific-technical societies, other public associations of scientists;

d) scientific and technical (technical) councils of ministries, departments, scientific and production associations, design bureaus, industrial enterprises.

5. The right to submit candidates for the medal is granted by the branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

6. Organizations or individuals that have nominated a candidate for the award of a medal, before November 12, 2024, submit their proposals along with motivation, including detailed information about the nominee and his scientific achievements and achievements (up to 3 pages), to the appropriate branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The motivated submission must contain:

6.1. Scientific description of works highlighting their significance for the development of science and the most important areas of state activity (providing published works, materials of discoveries and inventions is not required).

6.2. Information about the author (last name, first name, patronymic, full date of birth, list of main scientific works, discoveries, inventions, academic degree, academic title, place of work, position, home address), as well as a color personal photo 9 x 12 in electronic and paper form.
