Main Innovation EIT Urban Mobility 2025 – a grant competition to solve the problem of mobility in cities, has been announced

The EIT Urban Mobility innovation community, with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the European Union, continues to accept applications for the Main Innovation EIT Urban Mobility 2025 grant competition. The total amount of funding for the project is 8 million euros. 

About the program

The initiative will support projects that aim to develop or test new solutions in real-world conditions and achieve commercial viability within a specified time frame. Submitted proposals must meet a minimum Technology Readiness Level of TRL 6 (Beta Prototype. Technology demonstrated in an appropriate environment) and address one of the following topics:

  1. Urban logistics: planning and managing the transportation and distribution of goods in cities, including construction, bulk materials delivery, and waste management.
  2. Electrification of transport and alternative fuels: implementing zero-emission and clean energy solutions to support the decarbonization of urban transport.
  3. Public transport: planning and operation, in particular improving the quality of customer service, public transport services (buses, trams, subways, trains, etc.) available for use by the general population.

The program is aligned with the goals of the EU Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Net Zero and maintains active cooperation with the European technology platform ALICE in the field of urban logistics.

For whom?

All legal entities established in member countries of the EU and the Horizon Europe program (including Ukraine) can participate in the program. It can be:

  • small and medium-sized companies;
  • universities;
  • research and technology organizations;
  • representatives of city government and others.

Each project proposal must be submitted by a consortium of at least three independent legal entities, two of which are registered in the EU, the third in a Horizon Europe country. The composition of the consortium must meet the following requirements:

  • Commercial Partner: One of the consortium partners is designated as the lead commercialization applicant and is responsible for the Financial Sustainability Mechanism (FSM).
  • Demonstration Centers: Two partners from different eligible countries are identified as pilot centers where the proposed solution will be demonstrated. Such centers can be: a city/municipal government or an organization with direct links to such a government (public transport company, city-funded development agency, etc.), as well as a private company that has a valid concession to provide mobility services from the city /municipal authorities. 

How to participate?

To participate in the competition, you need to register on the platform and then fill out the application form. The deadline for submission is June 4, 2024.
