Ukraine plans to set up a National Intellectual Property Training Center

On October 3 Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka met with Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Harry and discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property.

The focus of the conversation is the organization and holding of joint conferences, seminars, roundtables in Ukraine, the implementation of joint projects in the field of intellectual property, as well as the implementation of other events of interest to Ukrainian inventors and authors..

Also during the meeting important documents were signed for further interaction between the Ministry of Economy and the World Intellectual Property Organization. In particular, the Cooperation Program for 2020 – 2021, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding providing for the establishment of the National Intellectual Property Training Center in Ukraine.

“The signed cooperation program identifies priority areas for further cooperation for the next two-year period. In particular, we plan to set up a National Intellectual Property Training Center, following the methodology of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and to develop a network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers. In the perspective of Ukraine’s accession to the Marrakesh Agreement on facilitating access of persons with visual impairments or other restrictions due to disability to receive printed information in published works,” Deputy Minister of Ukraine Taras Kachka commented on the event.
