CENTRIFUGAL DISTRILLATOR FOR THE LIFE SYSTEM OF THE PILOTED SPACE VEHICLE

PURPOSE:

For the regeneration of water from the liquid waste of the crew of a manned spacecraft, it consists of a centrifugal distiller, a thermoelectric heat pump (thermopile), and pre- and post-filtering devices.

DESCRIPTION:

There is a wastewater treatment of the spacecraft life support system by the method of multi-stage evaporation on a rotating surface. A number of prototypes were manufactured with the number of distillation degrees 1, 3, 5. Their autonomous tests were carried out, as well as in combination with a thermoelectric heat transformer.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

    • productivity: up to 6 l / h;
    • specific energy consumption <100 W h / l
    • degree of water extraction (recovery): 92-95%;
    • volume: 0.5 m3;
    • weight 30 kg.

ADVANTAGES:

Compared with the known analogues, the specific energy consumption is 1.5-3 times lower, the degree of water extraction is 10-20% higher, the dimensions and weight are 2-3 times less. The distiller does not require additional pumps to move liquids inside the apparatus and in external elements that ensure the functioning of the water recovery system.

In manned spacecraft.
