INNOVATIVE SCHEME FOR CONTROL OF MICROBIOLOGICAL POLLUTION AND BIOSTABILITY OF AIRCRAFT FUEL AND MATERIALS

PURPOSE:

The fuel purity depends on the presence of mechanical impurities, moisture and microbiological phase. The developed colorimetric method for detecting the microbiological phase is based on the fact that, as a result of the vital activity of oil-degrading microorganisms, fuels accumulate compounds containing primary and secondary amino groups, amino acids, amines, enzymes, etc. The cells of microorganisms are composed of protein parts, which include the above compounds. Ninhydrin was chosen as an indicator of the amino group and amino acid. When ninhydrin reacts with compounds containing these amino groups, the fuel acquires a blue-violet color. The intensity of the color indicates the scale of the biodeterioration of the fuel.

ADVANTAGES:

Compared with the known methods of detecting microbiological damage to fuel, the developed colorimetric method allows you to quickly identify the presence or absence of microbiological pollution in the conditions of the airfield.

RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:

The method can be implemented in the activities of airport services, testing laboratories, at oil product supply plants, at oil depots.
