TECHNOLOGY OF CULTIVATION OF AUSTRALIAN TROPICAL CRANKS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE SOUTH OF UKRAINE

PURPOSE:

The Ukrainian University has developed and proposes to introduce the technology of cultivation and reproduction of Australian tropical crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) in the south of Ukraine. The development is intended to expand the capabilities of domestic commercial aquaculture and create conditions for the production of gourmet products.

DESCRIPTION:

The technology provides for the cultivation and reproduction of Australian tropical crayfish in artificial conditions of closed water supply systems in the autumn-winter period to a marketable weight of 25-40 g, followed by growing to a marketable weight of 110 g in ponds in the south of Ukraine. To do this, it is necessary to provide appropriate conditions for their maintenance in the winter, using closed water supply installations or other systems that can provide this species with warm water for reproduction and rearing of younger age groups. The ponds in the south of Ukraine with their large natural food supply can be used for extensive monoculture of Australian crayfish.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

As a result of the application of the developed technology, tropical Australian crayfish with an average weight of 110 g (some specimens reached 187 g) were obtained during a one-year growing cycle.

ADVANTAGES:

The advantage of the development is the use of ponds in the south of Ukraine, which have a high natural bioproduction potential, which makes it possible to grow tropical Australian crayfish using extensive technology without the use of feeding.

RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:

Growing marketable crayfish for the production of new gourmet products.

RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH:

Ready for implementation.

STAGE OF THE DEVELOPMENT READINESS:

Laboratory tested.

TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY:

    • Sale of licenses.
    • Collaborative industrialization.

NOVELTY:

1 patent of Ukraine.
