COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH DIFFERENTIATED BULK PROPERTIES BASED ON TITANIUM SPONGE

PURPOSE:

Linings and elements of molds for casting cast iron parts, porous filters for liquids and gases.

DESCRIPTION:

Methods for the manufacture of porous composite materials based on titanium sponge have been developed, in which the volumetric properties are controlled by regulating the pressing pressure and the composition of the mixture together with wet mixing of fillers in a liquid glass matrix, which ensures their uniform distribution, protection of the particle surface from oxidation and closure of volumetric porosity. with its decrease from 20-30 to 10-25%. Due to different sintering conditions, uniformly strengthened composites (sintering in the vacuum) and composites were obtained, in which a hard surface is formed and a soft, deformation-resistant core (sintering with limited air access).

ADVANTAGES:

The development uses cheaper raw materials, which provide close to more expensive competitors’ results.

RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:

Mechanical engineering.
