In order to support the scientific potential in Ukraine, the L’Oréal – UNESCO “For Women in Science” Award has been organized in Ukraine since 2018. In 2023, the Ukrainian award is being implemented for the fifth year in a row and is part of the L’Oréal-UNESCO global program “For Women in Science”, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
The program is attended by women professionally engaged in scientific research in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) on the territory of Ukraine in any higher educational institution, research centers of these institutions or the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and meet the following conditions:
- are citizens of Ukraine;
- between the ages of 18 and 40 at the time of the application deadline;
- the presence of a scientific degree;
- availability of publications in journals indexed in the international scientometric databases Scopus or Web of Science;
- social activity to popularize science.

PRIZE IN 2023
From March 6 to May 31, 2023 inclusive, the collection of applications will continue through a special online platform https://www.forwomeninscience.in.ua/. Citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 40 are invited to participate, professionally conducting scientific research in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), having a scientific degree, publications in journals that are indexed in the international scientometric databases Scopus and / or Web of Science, and are socially active in the popularization of science. They will be informed about the rules of the program on the platform.
Each application will be judged by an independent program jury composed of experts and experts from different fields of science. The jury members of the award are leading Ukrainian scientists recognized as experts in the STEM industries.
The next stage of the award will be the selection by respected jury members of ten finalists for interviews in September 2023 and the announcement of the trio of winners in November 2023. Each laureate will receive a cash prize in the amount of 200,000 (two hundred thousand) hryvnias after mandatory payments and fees have been deducted, which can be used by the winners at their discretion.
