Irradiation chamber for studying the corrosion of materials in a supercritical water convection loop under load

Purpose. Investigation of corrosion of the surface of stressed samples under the influence of water in the subcritical and supercritical states and electrons with an energy of 10 MeV.

Specifications. The four-channel chamber makes it possible to irradiate samples with electrons with an energy of 10 MeV. The inner diameter of the channels is 10 mm, the outer diameter is 14 mm, the length is 280 mm. The pressure of supercritical water in the channels reaches 25 MPa at temperatures up to 400 °C, the mass flow is 70 g/s.

Application area. Scientific research and testing of metals by corrosion.

Advantages. Testing under mechanical stress and irradiation of promising materials for next generation nuclear reactors in supercritical water has no analogues in the world.

Description. To study the corrosion of materials under mechanical stress, cassettes have been created that provide controlled values of deformation and stress of the samples.
