Competitions have been opened in direction II “Global challenges and competitiveness” in the “Health” cluster. One of them is “Pandemic preparedness and response: host-pathogen interactions in infectious diseases with epidemic potential.” -08-20.
The goal of the competition is to support activities that contribute to the results expected in direction 3 “Combating diseases and reducing the severity (consequences) of diseases.” To this end, project proposals must aim to achieve all expected results:
- the scientific and clinical communities will have more knowledge about viruses with epidemic potential, in particular, a better understanding of the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions for the targeted development of vaccines and inhibitors to prevent viral infections and their spread;
- the scientific and clinical community will have access to the latest approaches in the prevention and treatment of new and existing infections in the context of preparedness for epidemics and pandemics;
- the scientific and clinical communities will benefit from access to experimental vaccine candidates and other active agents that inhibit cellular viral susceptibility against new or existing viral infections and their further clinical development.
The estimated budget of the competition is 50 million €, with the expected budget for one project being 7-8 million €.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation is 11 April 2024 by 17:00 (CET).
