German Digital Green Talents 2024: high potential for sustainable development for young scientists from all over the world

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) is holding the competition “Digital GreenTalents: High Potential for Sustainable Development”.

The goal of the competition is to promote the international exchange of innovative “green” ideas in the field of digitalization and sustainable development for greater sustainability in science and society. This is a new direction of the well-known BMBF Green Talents competition, which since 2009 has promoted the exchange of innovative green ideas and the development of international cooperation.

The competition does not finance research projects, but promotes individual development.

A high-profile jury of German experts will help the ministry select 20 outstanding young scientists in the field of digitalization and sustainable development, who will be recognized this year as “Digital Green Talents”.

The online award ceremony for the winners of the competition will take place in November 2024. In 2025, all laureates will be invited to Germany for a research stay and meetings at the Digital GreenTalent SpringSchool, which will be fully funded by the BMBF.

Each laureate can organize the time and duration of the research stay (up to three months) individually, but usually this stay coincides with the mentioned spring school.

The deadline for submitting an application for participation in the competition is May 15, 2024.
