PURPOSE:
The development of gas hydrate deposits provides for the isolation and removal of gas hydrates directly without the cost of the total energy balance for its melting. The target product of the technology will be a gas hydrate suitable for transportation and storage.
DESCRIPTION:
According to preliminary estimates, the total volumes of methane accumulated in the natural hydrates of the oceans are estimated to be from 3,000 to 7,000 trillion m3. However, to date, there is no technologically and economically effective way to develop gas hydrate deposits. Known methods include the use of traditional means and solutions for the production of fluid after the dissociation of gas hydrates in place. However, dissociation is an endothermic process, and the hydrate itself often performs the function of a skeleton of sedimentary rock and, in addition, has a number of properties that do not contribute to the application of traditional approaches to their removal. Ukrainian scientists have developed a method that provides for the extraction and removal of gas hydrates directly without the cost of the overall energy balance for its melting, but the implementation of a number of phase transformations in the production process by purposefully controlling processes based on the physical properties and characteristics of the complex interaction of the formation system components and rock destruction agents.
ADVANTAGES:
The technology of developing unconventional carbohydrate deposits is proposed. The introduction of technology will significantly increase the recoverable reserves of natural gas. The technology at all stages involves the use of alternative energy sources (seawater, reservoir, sun, energy of dissipative processes of hydrocracking).
