The National Research Foundation of Ukraine, together with the Swiss National Science Foundation, is launching a joint project competition. One of the goals of the competition is to support research activities in Ukraine and reduce the brain drain from the country.
The competition is thematically open to basic research. Joint projects from any scientific field, as well as interdisciplinary joint projects, are welcome.
Researchers have complete freedom in choosing topics. As an exception, SNSF will finance projects of Ukrainian leading researchers, including those already involved in the projects. This is because even professors in the country often receive little salary, if any at all.
Joint projects can last two to three years and are financed by SNSF through the budget of the bilateral program of the Swiss government. The first call for participation in the new bilateral program will be announced on October 12, 2023 and will be open until December 12, 2023. About 15 projects are expected to receive funding.
