Purpose. To improve the performance of magnetic arc welding of thin-walled tubular parts. Improving the quality of parts obtained by welding with a magnetically controlled arc.
Specifications. When implementing the technology of magnetically controlled arc press welding (MAMA) of highly loaded thin-walled dissimilar steel tubular parts with a diameter of 212×3.0 mm, the following is used: welding current up to 2 kA, arc gap voltage 22 – 35V, arc gap value 22 – 35V.
Application area. Mechanical engineering.
Advantages. Compared to existing technologies, the welding time for a pipe with a diameter of 42×3 mm has been significantly reduced – 7 seconds, without the use of auxiliary and protective materials.
Technical and economic effect. The process of magnetically controlled arc press welding (MAMA) allows using equipment to perform welding work on tubular parts efficiently and quickly. There is no need for additional welding materials. Welding time is 7…9 times less than with arc welding. For example, the welding time for a pipe with a diameter of 42×3 mm is 7 seconds. The PRMD process allows you to weld up to 1000 welded joints in an 8-hour working day.
Description. A pilot-industrial technology for welding thin-walled steel tubular parts for industrial use has been developed. A full range of mechanical tests of pipe samples was carried out and quality criteria for welded joints were determined. Based on the results of the tests performed, positive results were confirmed for thin-walled steel highly loaded tubular parts with a diameter of 212×3.0 mm, welded using the PRMD technology for the purpose of their industrial use.
