Ukrainian innovative enterprises will be able to receive up to € 200 000 for 3 years for the development of their activity. Support will be provided on the basis of the competition through EU assistance to Ukraine in Horizon 2020. The relevant resolution was approved by the Government and published on December 5, 2019.
“Through its associate membership in Horizon 2020, Ukraine has received financial support from the EU for the development of science and innovation. It is currently € 7 million. We have previously approved the procedure for the competition, at which part of these funds Ukrainian scientists will be able to get under their projects and infrastructure. We have now made changes to the government regulation on using EU assistance to support our innovators as well”, said Education and Science Minister Ganna Novosad.
She added that the best projects will also be selected for the competition. It will be open to small and medium-sized enterprises, in particular in partnership with universities. This will improve the link between science and business.
Innovators will be able to use these funds to obtain and maintain patents, patent registration services, payment for access to databases, necessary research, testing and certification, and more.
Support will be provided on a co-financing basis – the share of state aid can be between 30% and 50% of the costs.
The competition is currently being developed by the Ministry of Education and Science and will be approved by the Government. The competition is scheduled to be announced next year.
The resolution adopted by the Government also provided financial support to all national contact points of Horizon 2020, regardless of their organizational and legal form and subordination.
