DEPTH TREATMENT OF MELT WITH GAS-AGENT MIXTURES

PURPOSE:

The Ukrainian Institute has developed a device and technology for deep processing of melts with gas-reagent mixtures for refining, modifying and alloying liquid metal in ladles, mixers or smelting units.

DESCRIPTION:

The melts are processed with inert and active gases or their mixture. Powder materials are fed into the in-depth high-temperature flow by a feeder of solid particles, lumpy materials are fed using special dosing reagents. At the same time, gas consumption is 0.3-0.6 cubic meters, electricity – 10-15 kW / h per ton of processed metal. As a concentrated source of heat, a laser is used, which heats the gas mixtures in the reaction chamber. The developed technology provides effective refining of aluminum and copper alloys from hydrogen and non-metallic inclusions, as a result of which the quality of cast products increases: the structure of alloys is crushed, the mechanical properties and plastic characteristics of the metal are at the vacuum level. The technology makes it possible to maximize the use of heat, which is supplied to the deep layers of the melt with plasma; reduce metal overheating in melting units; to reduce the content of gases, non-metallic inclusions and harmful impurities in the metal; average temperature and chemical composition of the melt; increase the degree of assimilation of refining reagents and reduce consumption by introducing impurities into the melt into a highly reactive state.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

The study of the quality of the metal showed that after processing cast iron using the proposed technology and device, the sulfur content in it decreases from 0.085 to 0.0075%.

ADVANTAGES:

In contrast to analogs, the proposed technology allows obtaining a new technical effect, expressed in increasing the efficiency of the processes of refining (modification) of alloys with economical consumption of reagents for processing. The technology contributes to an increase in the efficiency of refining and modification processes, an increase in the efficiency of plasma heating of the melt to 90%.

RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH:

The development allows to obtain a new technical effect, expressed in increasing the efficiency of alloy refining processes and increasing the hardness and operational properties of cast products.
