POLYAMIDE-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH REDUCED FLAMMABILITY

PURPOSE:

To reduce the flammability of polyamide-6 products.

DESCRIPTION:

The anionic polymerization of e-caprolactam in the presence of organomodified montmorillonite leads to the formation of exfoliated nanocomposites. At the same time, a significant reduction (27-32%) of the combustibility of composite materials and a 2.5-fold increase in mechanical properties are achieved with the introduction of a smaller amount of filler (1%) compared to traditional fillers.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

With an effective ratio of components, e-caprolactam polymerization proceeds without an induction period and is completed in 3-4 minutes at 170 ± 5 ° C (according to the traditional technology of hydrolytic polymerization, the process lasts 16-20 hours).

Completion of the polymerization process is provided for in two options:

    • obtaining granular material;
    • receiving a finished product (blank).

ADVANTAGES:

There is no such technology in Ukraine. Similar products may be of interest to other states.

RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:

The developed composite materials can be used in almost all enterprises processing polyamides, as well as in enterprises producing parts from polyamides by machining a blank. These are enterprises of the aviation, shipbuilding, electrical, machine-building, food industries, instrument making, automobile and railway transport, civil and industrial construction, agriculture.

RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH:

Provides consistent results.

STAGE OF THE DEVELOPMENT READINESS:

Tested in trial operation.

TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY:

Collaborative industrialization.

NOVELTY:

1 patent of Ukraine.
