Technology of inhibitory anti-corrosion protection of metal surfaces

Purpose. To increase the corrosion resistance of cast iron and steel in an environmentally friendly way.

Specifications. Recommended modes of technological operations: oak bark extraction temperature – 18–20 °C; extraction duration – 72 hours; oak bark extraction temperature in a Soxhlet apparatus – 70–80 °C; extraction duration – 6 hours; metal surface processing temperature – 18–20 °C; processing time – 2 hours.

Application area. Agro-industrial complex Mechanical engineering. Industrial enterprises in food and other industries.

Advantages. The advantage of the technology over existing ones is that its use reduces the corrosion rate of steel and gray cast iron in acidic and neutral environments under the influence of oak bark extract without the additional introduction of other substances that increase inhibitory properties. The use of a “green” inhibitor is safe for the environment.

Technical and economic effect. Inhibitor protection technology reduces losses in the metal stock of Ukrainian enterprises. Natural substances for “green” inhibitors are obtained from renewable sources, and, importantly, they are environmentally friendly. You can also use waste from the wood processing industry.

Description. The technology for protecting the surface of steel and cast iron from corrosion damage in an acidic and neutral aqueous environment consists of exposing the metal to a solution of a plant-based inhibitor. The main active components of the “green” inhibitor of oak bark extract are esters of complex aromatic and fatty acids, a mixture of natural tannins – polyphenolic compounds.
