On March 26, 2024 the next lecture of the Kharkiv Quantum Seminar will take place

“Kharkiv Quantum Seminar” invites you to the next lecture, which will take place on March 26, 2024 at 16:00 in an online format.

Lecturer: Professor John P. Perdue (Tulane University, New Orleans), author of a number of fundamental ideas and approaches that form the basis for many practical applications of density functional theory.

The results of his 360 scientific papers, cited more than 400,000 times, made it possible to develop and develop effective numerical algorithms for calculating the electronic structure of matter, allowing one to predict the physical properties and structural parameters of atomic, molecular, liquid and solid compounds, as well as accurately describe the bonds of different structures. J. P. Perdue is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences (2011). His results have been recognized by a number of scientific awards, including the Materials Research Society Theory of Matter Prize (2012), the John Scott Award (2015), and the Mulliken Medal (2018).

Topic of the report: “More-predictive density functionals, symmetry breaking, and strong correlation”.
