Device for fixing cutting tools

Purpose. For fastening cutting tools

Scope. The device can be used in aviation and mechanical engineering industries

Advantages. A device for vibration damping during turning is known, containing a tool holder in which a cutter is fixed, rigidly connected to a vibration damper made in the form of a load and placed in an electrically conductive circuit filled with a suspension of finely dispersed material in a liquid medium. The disadvantage of this device is the bulkiness and complexity of the design, therefore it is used for a limited range of cutting tools. The device is expensive to manufacture.

Technical and economic effect. The effect consists in increasing the tool life when cutting hard-to-cut materials. The economic attractiveness consists in reducing the cost of purchasing and resharpening the tool.

Description. The cutter is installed in the housing on the support element and is pressed through the plate and the steel plate with clamping bolts. During processing, the change in cutting force leads to the occurrence of vibration of the cutting tool and is directly transmitted to the supporting and overlay element – plates made of iron-copper pseudoalloy. Due to the microplastic deformation of copper, the energy of elastic vibrations is dissipated and the energy is damped. The use of a steel plate leads to an increase in rigidity due to an increase in the area of application of the force, which is formed by the clamping bolts. Thus, when processing parts with different complexity of the processed surfaces, due to the damping of tool vibration, the stability of the cutting tool increases, which improves the roughness of the processed surface and increases the processing productivity. Such a device can be applied to a wide range of cutting tools.
