Purpose. Search for promising zones of methane accumulation in sandstones, in unmined areas of mine fields for its extraction and improving the safety of miners.
Application area. Mining industry.
Advantages. A more rapid and more accurate forecast of gas-saturated zones of a coal rock mass, reducing the cost of work aimed at finding promising zones of methane accumulation, and optimizing points for filling wells for methane production.
Description. The technique is based on the differences in the physical and mechanical properties of gas-saturated and gas-unsaturated sections of sandstones in coal deposits. Thanks to this, using geological data (trend analysis method) and geophysical well survey data, it is possible to identify zones of methane accumulation in sandstones of an undisturbed massif using the gas saturation index Gpg, which is calculated using a multidimensional regression equation.
