MATERIALS FOR THERMOELECTRIC ENERGY GENERATION IN THE FIELD OF TEMPERATURES OF 150-500 ° С

PURPOSE:

The proposed development can be implemented for the direct conversion of waste heat into electrical energy. The technology of materials that are today the most effective in the field of average temperatures of 150-500 ° C is proposed.

DESCRIPTION:

Thermoelectric energy is one of the safest and longest in operation, for its generation there is no need to use complex systems, and designs do not contain moving parts. A synthesis technology has been developed for multicomponent semiconductor materials such as PbTe, SnTe, PbSnTe, PbTe-Bi2 (Sb2) Te3, LAST (Pb-Ag-Sb-Te), LATT (Pb-Ag-SnTe) with orderly introduced nanoinclusions. The technology was developed and tested on modern equipment purchased with funds from the NATO Science Program Project (SfPG4536; 2014-2016).

ADVANTAGES:

Materials are characterized by high values of thermoelectric figure of merit ZT ° -0.5-2.2. The predicted values of the efficiency of devices based on such materials are about 7-12% instead of 3-6% of today’s industrial thermoelectric modules.
