PURPOSE:
Ukrainian University has developed a method for the treatment of diseases of the spine and an apparatus for its implementation, which belongs to the field of medical technology and can be used for the prevention and treatment of the spine.
DESCRIPTION:
The developed method and apparatus for traction therapy can be used in physiotherapy rooms of preventive and medical institutions for the prevention and treatment of diseases of the spine and hip joints, namely: lumbodynia, discogenic radiculitis, osteochondrosis of the spine with symptoms of prolapse or herniation of intervertebral discs. The development consists of a mechanical pulling system, integrated contact-type heaters, vibration sources, an electromagnetic radiation unit, a feedback unit for temperature and patient status, a control system, an information input and an output unit. A patient fixed on a hard surface (which has the ability to follow the contours of the body, transmit thermal energy and vibrational vibrations through itself) may experience differential stretching (a separate effect on the thoracic and lumbar spine) with simultaneous heating, vibration massage, electromassage of the muscle corset and low-intensity electromagnetic radiation. The flexibility of the system is demonstrated by the possibility of separate regulation of the aforementioned physical factors; if necessary, each of these actions may not be used. Particular attention is paid to the safety of the patient during treatment. There are hardware and software links for patient protection, which include a heating temperature feedback unit and an emergency shutdown button. Protection against failures of software and hardware of the control system is provided. The invention also relates to a fractional therapy apparatus which is used in said method.
ADVANTAGES:
The developed apparatus and method of treatment, in contrast to analogs, allows for more effective treatment of various diseases of the spine and hip joints, shortens the treatment and rehabilitation period, and at the same time gives an opportunity to undergo, in addition to treatment, also prevention of people with a sedentary lifestyle. In addition, the technology makes it possible to abandon surgical intervention during treatment, reduces mental trauma to the patient, has a wider range of physiotherapeutic actions and increases patient safety.
