Installation for measuring ecosystem CO2 fluxes

Purpose. Determination of carbon balance in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Assessment and comparison of CO2 emission levels day and night in different parts of the ecosystem.

Specifications. The measurement range of gas analyzers built into the installation is 0-2000 ppm. A gas exchange chamber made of plexiglass, shaped like a cube with an edge of 0.5 m, can be placed on the ground or on a floating platform (when measuring CO2 flows in aquatic ecosystems).

Application area. Ecology. Environmental protection.

Advantages. Lightweight and portable, the ability to record direct and reflected light from the ground, high measurement accuracy (1 ppm). It meets modern requirements and can be used to solve practical environmental problems in combination with geomonitoring data on the territory of Ukraine. The technological capabilities of the hardware complex can be expanded by connecting the appropriate modules.

Description. The installation allows you to measure: ecosystem respiration (ER, Reco); net ecosystem exchange of carbon (NEE) – the difference between gross ecosystem productivity (GEP) and ecosystem respiration (Reco); GEP is the amount of CO2 that is absorbed by plants during photosynthesis, as well as the total respiration of soil organisms (Rsoil).
